Visitors with restricted mobility can borrow an electric mobility scooter from the zoo free of charge. To access this service, the hirer only has to be of legal age and present an ID for identification, which shows the hirer’s name, age and address. This service is provided by the Department for Labour and Economic Development together with the sponsor Anderwerk - in close cooperation with Hellabrunn Zoo and the city’s Advisory Board for the Disabled.
Who can use this service at Hellabrunn Zoo?
- Persons with proof of mobility impairment
- Anyone who is unable to walk around zoo
- Persons over 18 years of age
- A driver's license is not required
Picking up your mobility scooter
Before the user receives the vehicle, they will be given a brief introduction on how to operate the electric mobility scooter by a member of staff. For the duration of use, employees are always available by telephone to answer any questions. The electric vehicle can be hired for up to three and a half hours. Upon its return, it will be disinfected by an employee before it is made available for hire again.
Mobility scooters can be hired from 9 am to 5 pm daily

When you pick up your mobility scooter, ensure you arrive at the hire station between the Flamingo entrance and the Jungle Pavilion on time, at the agreed time. The Flamingo entrance is opposite the Alemannenstraße bus stop. Please bring photo ID (e.g. ID card, driver's licence) that shows your name, age and address. Then fill out the hire application form and leave a deposit with us. After the hire period has expired, please bring the mobility scooter back to the hire station.
