Chattering lory

Chattering lories typically live in pairs and remain bonded to their partners for long periods. Together they forage for flowers and fruit. Trees that yield a particularly abundant supply of food are vigorously defended. Their high-pitched calls make it clear from a distance who the tree belongs to.
