Hungarian curly feathered goose
Anser anser dom.
- FamilyDucks, geese and swans (Anatidae)
- Weight4,5 – 5 kg
Curly feathered geese cannot fly and are poor swimmers. Despite this, they need access to plenty of water to keep their plumage clean and in good condition.
The Hungarian curly feathered goose derives its name from the long, curly feathers on its back and shoulders. These soft, thin feathers are a popular mat rial for filling home bedding such as pillows and quilts. The feathers on the breast may be curly, frizzy or smooth.
The eponymous curly feathers evolved as a result of genetic mutation.
