This Sunday, Hellabrunn Zoo fans can start the day with a very special treat for their mother: a scrumptious breakfast buffet at the Rubenbauer restaurant in the zoo (conveniently situated next to the Adventure Playground). On Mother's Day, the superb breakfast buffet will be open from 9am -12pm and include cheese, sausage and smoked fish platters, sweet bread spreads, fruit yogurt, muesli, a variety of fruit, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages, coffee, tea, milk, juices, sparkling wine and love donuts (a traditional German glazed raspberry donut decorated with a heart). The price of the breakfast buffet, including drinks, is € 16.50 for adults and youngsters, and € 8.50 for children 3 to 12 years. Children under three years can enjoy the breakfast free of charge. Table reservations are not available for this event. Families are therefore recommended to arrive in good time.

Re-energised and full of zest, mothers and their families can then join the Mother’s Day Tour of the zoo. Tickets for the tour are available at the service centers at the Flamingo and Isar entrances. The tour takes visitors big and small on a journey through Hellabrunn to seven animal stations where participants will learn exciting facts about mother-child relationships in the animal kingdom. Participants of the tour will also have an opportunity to win fabulous prizes: The winner will receive a one-year Adopt an Animal package for a special mum at Hellabrunn - the female drill Afi, who belongs to a highly endangered species of African primate. The second and third prize winners will each receive a Family Annual Pass.

The zoo will also host special keeper talks for various animal species - exclusively for Mother’s Day. Visitors can learn amazing facts about animal mothers and their offspring by attending the various keeper talks at the zoo: Leopoldi Stingray (10am), dama gazelle (10:30am), nyala (12pm) and the drill (1:30pm). Further information on the keeper talks will be available at the entrances of the zoo on 8 May.
